A review of Paramount Network’s version of Wife Swap, which is condescension wrapped up in a pretty shitty package.
Wife Swap is moving to an entirely different network after being originally scheduled to premiere on CMT in February.
CMT says its version of the show will be “showcasing hot-button issues like politics, classism, gender and race.”
If you’ve wondered what has happened in the years since The Queen of Versailles, ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap offered one last night. Its stars David and Jackie Siegel were on last night’s Celebrity Wife Swap with Party of Five star Jeremy London and Juliet Reeves London. Those who’ve seen the outstanding, must-watch documentary might have… continue reading
ABC’s celebrity Wife Swap faked Coolio’s relationship with a woman, he said. “Listen. It was all set up. I’m nothing like that. I’m not even with Mimi. I never was. She’s a friend of mine. They tried to make me look bad. I don’t want to do that stuff again,” he told the Daily Record…. continue reading
Wife Swap was reborn Monday as Celebrity Wife Swap, and while it features the exact same celebrities who always appear on these shows, the first two episodes turned out pretty decent. (Contrast that to, say, Sunday’s Food Network debut of Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off, a true embarrassment of a series.) Although Wife Swap is… continue reading

Alicia Guastaferro, who appeared on ABC’s Wife Swap in 2008 and said things such as “I do feel sorry for people that are not gorgeous people,” is suing the show, claiming that it staged scenes to “maximize [Guastaferro’s] public embarrassment.” The $100 million lawsuit says she was directed to “act a little more spoiled.” The… continue reading
Two-time Wife Swap star Richard Heene pled guilty to a felony after turning himself in to police yesterday, and will get probation. That’s the result of the attention-seeking hoax he committed last month, which he lied about on TV while his kid puked. The AP reports that he pled guilty “to a felony charge of… continue reading
The balloon boy saga that played out live on cable television on Thursday was ultimately all about getting a reality show, according to police. Balloon boy’s parents Richard and Mayumi Heene may be charged with a felony for what police now say is a stunt–and what their own kid said was “for the show.” Sheriff… continue reading
Jon and Kate Gosselin’s kids now have competition for our sympathy from Falcon Heene, aka balloon boy, whose parents appeared twice on Wife Swap and now have been dragging him on various TV shows, where he seemed to confess that it was a hoax and also repeatedly vomited. The 6-year-old boy who may or may not have fallen out of an experimental balloon that floated around and transfixed the country before landing in a field–apparently without him in it–has parents who appeared on ABC’s Wife Swap earlier this year. Falcon Heene’s parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, were called “the storm-chasing, science-obsessed Heene” family… continue reading
