CBS’s brand-new spin-off Big Brother Reindeer Games premieres on Monday. It’s a special season that barely counts as a season, as it’s just six episodes, compared to the six hundred years Big Brother 25 lasted.

Today, CBS announced the nine players who will compete for $100,000 during those six episodes, and like most things related to Big Brother, it was disappointing.

Okay, sure, it’s not all bad! But there still are too many overexposed reality TV stars and people who just do not need to be on my TV more than they already have this year.

Those nine are in addition to former players Derek Xiao, Tiffany Mitchell, and Jordan Lloyd, who we’re told will “guide BB Legends through the most holiday-riffic, challenging and unpredictable competitions.” (All of this has been pre-taped, so there will be no live feeds.)

Julie Chen Moonves hasn’t yet been mentioned in a Big Brother Reindeer Games press release, so does that mean she’s really not part of this at all? Now there’s something that would be unexpected and a true holiday treat!

In its press release, CBS called the players “BB legends,” “legendary former players,” and “iconic former players,” and I guess all of those are synonyms for ugh.

Frankie Grande (UGH UGH UGH), Britney Haynes (fine), and Danielle Reyes (YAY), who were most recently seen doing what I suppose counts as “acting” on Big Brother 25, are all contestants.

The representative from Big Brother 25 is Cameron (UGH), who did win America’s Favorite Player (i.e. the favorite player of those who bothered to vote), but whose time on BB25 was summarized like this by Hamsterwatch:

Comp beast yes, but his social game was a disaster. He never tired of reminding them he was on the block or HOH every week, which didn’t help reduce his target. He had two modes: cocky winner or gloomy loser, the former resulting in lengthy How To Play BB lectures that were transparently self-serving. He had peculiar attitudes towards/about both Reilly and America, and the only tight bond he formed was with Red. His lack of self-awareness was never more apparent than when he said ‘Cory always has to be the smartest person in a room’ – somebody buy this man a mirror.

All that earned him six more hours of TV. Brilliant work as always, Big Brother producers.

To be positive, another good thing about the cast is that Jeff Schroeder isn’t on it, because I was sure CBS would find another way to give him yet another job. (Most recently, he defended the players making racist comments on BB21.)

But Frankie and Josh Martinez both are, so ugh.

Here are the players, and their Big Brother seasons, according to CBS:

  1. Cody Calafiore (season 16, season 22 winner)
  2. Nicole Franzel (season 16, season 18 winner, season 22)
  3. Frankie Grande (season 16)
  4. Taylor Hale (season 24 winner and America’s Favorite Player)
  5. Cameron Hardin (season 25 America’s Favorite Player)
  6. Britney Haynes (season 12 America’s Favorite Player and season 14)
  7. Josh Martinez (season 19 winner).
  8. Xavier Prather (season 23 winner)
  9. Danielle Reyes (seasons three and seven)

Why oh why did they pick Josh to be on this show!!!

@Tequila Girl13, Most likely because he is still on reality tv a lot on the Challenge. OR they wanted some toddler whining for some Christmas cheer! He can be very annoying, but I do think he is probably a nice guy irl.

I think there are some really strong players--Danielle, Cody, Taylor, Xavier--and some really annoying people. I can't think of a more representative cast for the mess that is Big Brother.

I like everybody but Frankie. Whenever I see Frankie I think "Eww, not him again." I like Josh because he's such an emotional mess and every time he starts to cry I get a warm feeling all over my body.

I agree with you regarding Jeff. I don't know why CBS or viewers like him.

I look forward to seeing Xavier, Cody, Nicole, Cameron and Taylor!

Aw hell no…I can tolerate most of them, but Cody and Josh? The fiercest competition in the house will be to determine which one has the biggest ego. Ugh.

Danielle, Brittney, and Nicole are the only ones I care about seeing again. According to a tweet by Janelle, Rachel Reilly was passed over, she certainly would be considered a true BB legends, certainly one of the most memorable and competitive players they’ve ever had.
