CBS announced the cast of The Challenge: USA today, though it’s been online for a few months.

The cast consists of players from CBS’s four reality competitions: Survivor, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, and Love Island (which is no longer a CBS show).

Among the cast members are six winners; half of those are from Survivor, and one each from the other three shows.

The season premieres next month, and will be paired with Big Brother on Wednesday nights.

While I’ve had issues with The Challenge historically, this cast is pretty exciting, and the combinations should be interesting, too. CBS’s shows have had crossovers, of course, but this is obviously different in that they’re all playing a new game.

And while people from CBS’s shows have also competed on MTV’s Challenge, none of them—and none of The Challenge’s regulars—are on this season.

So, it’s a cast that’s brand-new to this game. Here’s the format of the game they’ll be playing, according to CBS:

Upon arrival, the CBS reality titans are given $1,000 to start their individual challenge accounts, and they quickly discover they must battle to keep and increase their handsome reward. In each episode, an algorithm pairs contestants who will face off to earn money for their accounts by winning challenges or eliminating their opponents. This will not be an easy task, as they will be paired with a randomly selected competitor every episode, making alliances and strategies more difficult than ever. Players must adapt to survive the game and protect their challenge accounts. With the $500,000 grand prize and title of Challenge Champion on the line, players will be in a constant state of paranoia, unable to trust anyone but themselves.

“An algorithm” LOL sure. (Also I love how it just becomes “randomly selected” pairs one sentence later.)

Spoilers for this season posted by PinkRose at Vevmo also include the pairs, but be warned that those include elimination results, too.

Interesting that most of the BB players are from Season 23. (A season that I really liked).

I don't mind the MTV challenge cast not being on here since they already have the opportunity to compete on the MTV one. When they announced the spinoff I was affraid that the people from the CBS shows that compete on the challenge were going to be appearing on this one and just poisoned it or make it insufferable to watch example; Josh, Kaycee, Fessy, Jozea just to name a few. I would say this is an okay cast they could of done better and leave some one the contestants on this one out.

I wonder why CBS elected not to include folks from Tough as Nails. I'd like to see them in the mix if there is a Season 2!

@Andy Dehnart, The friendly part does make sense. I think several of the TAN players would be awesome to watch, but they might not want to "tarnish" their rep by getting involved in what will probably go down.

Excellent question! I even forgot about them as I was writing this. Tough As Nails contestants certainly have the physical strength to compete, but I wonder if the fact that the show is more of a friendly, drama-free competition meant that either CBS didn't think they were a good fit, or people they asked didn't want to go on The Challenge.

@Casey, that surprised me too! Maybe they'll fill in the gap lost with Love Island not being a CBS property anymore (granted they have that new Love Boat show coming too)

I'm curious what the original/regular Challenge players think of not being included when it goes to primetime and CBS. Don't get me wrong - I also like that it's not half Challenge/half other shows because I don't like the vibe in that situation but I might feel disrespected or left behind if I have been on the show for over a decade and then I'm left out when it goes to CBS.

@Val, Their show's prize is still higher ($1M vs $500k) so I'm sure they are losing too much sleep
