Will there be a So You Think You Can Dance season 15? Will the show escape cancellation once again?
This morning at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Rob Wade, Fox’s president of alternative entertainment, was asked about the future of the Nigel Lythgoe-produced dance competition.
He answered briefly—with just these 26 words:
“So You Think You Can Dance, at the moment we’re looking at all our options for the summer and don’t have an update as yet, no.”
So, SYTYCD is an option. But that sure doesn’t sound very promising.
Notably, there weren’t any kind words about the show—and not even any of that faux Hollywood enthusiasm (We love the show, we love working with the producers, we love dancing, we love shows with hosts named Cat.)
Then again, it also wasn’t a clear no, nor an indication that it’s been cancelled. So there’s hope, and SYTYCD has certainly defied the odds before.
Last year, by the way, Fox renewed the show at the end of January, and auditions took place in March.
