The new home of RuPaul’s Drag Race, VH1, has ordered a third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, in addition to the already-renewed season 10. VH1 is also bringing back Untucked, the show that goes behind the scenes as the queens talk backstage before the elimination.
Untucked’s return coincidentally follows its recent Emmy nomination—though it was not nominated as a Logo or VH1 show. Instead, it was broadcast on YouTube and produced and funded by World of Wonder Productions independent of the network.
In other words, now that the show is Emmy-nominated, Viacom network executives are suddenly willing to pay for it again and want it back on TV.
A press release said Untucked will return with season 10 which will be “debuting in spring 2018.” VH1’s blog said “All Stars season three will premiere in early 2018.”
In the press release, VH1’s SVP of programming said, “The massive swell of new and longtime fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race is nothing short of incredible. We are motivated now more than ever to ensure Drag Race remains a shining example of inclusion and community, as well as fierce fashions and legendary lip-syncs.”
And RuPaul said, “The world is calling out to see more of these beautiful queens and I am going to give them every bit of it they can handle. These All Stars represent the best of the breasts, legs and thighs.”
