Untucked will return for Drag Race season 9, but it’s still just online

The behind-the-scenes spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Untucked, will return for season 9, but will again be available only online. They’ll be released Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. ET, since the show now airs Friday nights, starting March 25.

It’s produced by World of Wonder, the production company that produces Drag Race—not by VH1 and not by Logo—so it’s available on the company’s YouTube channel, WOWPresents. (That will also be the home of some future Drag Race spin-off series.)

That’s so fascinating and weird to me, that the network(s) won’t pay for and/or air this show, which goes more in-depth into the contestants, their lives, and their experiences on the show. The last few seasons have been underproduced—just a verite eavesdropping into life backstage before and after the judges deliberate.

In a press release, WoW teases Lady Gaga’s appearance on the first episode of Untucked, and quotes RuPaul, who says this of the show:

“If you’re a Drag Race fan and you don’t watch Untucked, you’re only getting part of the story. Untucked is like the Rosetta Stone of Drag Race. Not the drag queen Rosetta Stone. The original Rosetta Stone. Google it,” said Executive Producer, RuPaul.”
