Update, Oct. 8: All is well here—we were very lucky and didn’t have any damage, just small debris. Friends who live nearby, also well inland, had trees fall, sometimes into their houses, and many are still without power. And of course, the worst is by the coast. I appreciate the thoughts and concerns, and my thoughts are with everyone who is still dealing with the impact of Hurricane Matthew.
Earlier: Long-time readers of reality blurred may recall a week or so in 2004 when I stopped publishing: Hurricane Frances left me without power. I eventually made my way to a public library where there was Internet access and—even better—air conditioning to post a brief update before power eventually returned.
Now that Hurricane Matthew is approaching Florida, and looks like it’s going to be an asshole even for those of us inland in Central Florida—never mind those on the coast, where it looks like it may cause massive devastation.
So, I’ve decided to get ahead of the storm, and will be shuttering these electronic doors until the storm passes. (I also sent out Reality in Focus early.) At the very least, it seems likely we’ll lose electricity, and thus I’ll lose the ability to update reality blurred until it’s restored.
I expect/hope that everything will be back to normal by early next week. If you’re also in Matthew’s path, stay safe, please.
