Update, June 10, 11 a.m.: PBS will air The Great British Bake-Off series six starting on July 1. The network confirmed the news the day after reality blurred published the story below.
Earlier, June 9: The Great British Baking Show, aka The Great British Bake-Off, will be returning to PBS for a third season in July, reality blurred has learned.
While PBS has yet to formally announce the return, Oregon Public Broadcasting currently has nine episodes scheduled, from July 1 to Aug. 5. (I’ve been in contact with PBS’ publicity and will update if and when they’re able to comment.)
It’s likely that this new season will be The Great British Bake-Off series six, which aired in the UK last fall. That’s because series two and three each had eight episodes, and UK series four and five already aired on PBS, as seasons 2 and 1 in the U.S., respectively.
Series six had 10 episodes total, making it the most-likely candidate to air as The Great British Baking Show season three.
OPB’s episodes are scheduled on Fridays at 9, Saturdays at 6, and Mondays at 2 a.m.—odd times, but typical for this show, which can air at different times on different stations. Here’s why its scheduling was different last season.
