A reality TV show star was responsible for kids being prevented from going outside at school today because he lost his king cobra.
Airplane Repo star Mike Kennedy lost the eight-foot king cobra, and his home is one-half mile from an elementary school, prompting kids to have to stay inside. Clarcona Elementary School’s principal told WESH, “We are moving all outside activities, including P.E. and recess, inside. And we will be relocating our portable classrooms into the main building.”
Besides appearing on the recreation-heavy/staged Discovery Channel series, Kennedy owns Dragon Ranch, and his web site says they “have applied for a 501C3 nonprofit organization formed to rescue and house exotic animals.” Kennedy describes himself on the site as a several things, including an “exotic animal dealer.”
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission captain Chris Roszkowiak told the station, “It wasn’t deliberately let out from what we can see. Looks like it escaped its cage it was in.” However, WESH reports that Kennedy “could face criminal penalties for not telling authorities about the escape immediately.”
Because Florida and/or America, one neighbor, James McLeod, told the NBC affiliate, “I’m going to go load my guns. Well, they’re already loaded, but I’m going to have them ready for sure. I mean, that thing’s big enough to take you down for sure.”
