One of the competitors on season two of Ultimate Survival Alaska died Sunday from gunshot wounds. Jimmy Gaydos, aka Jimmy Gojdics, was 69.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported that his death “is under investigation as a homicide” by Alaska State Troopers.
National Geographic Channel said in a statement posted on the show’s Facebook page and sent to media outlets, “We were saddened to learn of his untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time.”
He was a member of the “woodsmen” team which dropped out in episode three due to his knee injury. The network’s web site described him as an “off-the-grid survivalist” who “has spent time working as a fisherman, horse wrangler and trainer, blacksmith, forest service firefighter, carpenter, ironworker on skyscrapers and large bridges, gold prospector, river guide, and wilderness guide.”
