Two-time The Amazing Race team Joey Graceffa and Meghan Camarena, are among the cast members for a new hybrid reality series that puts its YouTube star contestants in a world full of zombies created by a former Face Off cast member.
Fight of the Living Dead debuts March 22 online at CONtv, a new digital network, which describes the series like this:
“A competition series with horror overtones, [Fight of the Living Dead] is an unprecedented mash-up of the reality and scripted genres. The show will follow 8 top YouTube stars as they attempt to survive the first 24-hours of a highly simulated Zombie Apocalypse. The only prize is survival.”
And attention, but who’s counting that when there’s a zombie apocalypse.
It’s not quite clear how the reality element of this will work exactly. Citing a press release-y description that says the special effects makeup on 200 extras was done by Face Off season three contestant Tommy Pietch, IGN reports that it was filmed “over the course of two days at Sybil Brand Women’s Prison in Los Angeles.”
It’s also not clear how much Joey and Meghan’s TAR experience will help them on Fight of the Living Dead. The contestants on this show “are tasked finding the antidote that can save mankind,” and since Joey had trouble finding his car after it was towed by a comedian for blocking his driveway, that might not bode well for him.
