A new season of The Comeback, a new Valerie Cherish

The Comeback is finally back, and although the first few seconds were very familiar, the show quickly proved that it’s changed a lot. That’s okay–the first season was perfect and doesn’t need to be remade or even echoed–but it’s going to take some getting used to, particularly the new Valerie Cherish.

I recapped the first episode for HiFix, highlighting what I thought was one of the first episode’s major problems: its over-reliance on Bravo reality TV show cameos and references. Loved the bit with Lisa Vanderpump, and the Andy Cohen cameo connected with the plot, but why Carla Hall? Why reference Bethenny? Why act as if there’s no other reality TV except on Bravo?

Also, virtually ignoring RuPaul like this was just wrong.
