Paula Abdul guest judging SYTYCD tonight: Will she increase the show’s ratings?

Former American Idol and The X Factor judge Paula Abdul will be appearing as a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance tonight, alongside Erin Andrews. Paula has previously guest judged Dancing With the Stars.

Nigel Lythgoe said he’s “waited ten seasons for” her to guest judge, and Paula said, “I am thrilled to be joining #SYTYCD and I am not kidding!”

Lisa De Moraes suggests this is “the reality-TV equivalent of a Hail Mary pass” because “Dance’s overall audience is down about 27% this summer, compared to last.”

But while Paula has dance credentials, I’m not sure she’s that much of a television draw any more; she was pretty boring on The X Factor and was fired from that show, after all. If she was a ratings draw, wouldn’t she still be on it?
