This winter, Oxygen will air a competitions series featuring tattoo artists called Best Ink; it’s produced by Bunim-Murray Productions, which took over Project Runway after it moved to Lifetime.
The winner will receive $100,000 and the cover of Tattoo Magazine, and the show will be hosted by American Idol 2 finalist Kimberly Caldwell, who appeared on L.A. Ink to have song lyrics tattooed on her shoulder. The show’s judges are tattoo artist Joe Capobianco and model and tattoo shop owner Sabina Kelley.
The press release says that “body art will be created for, and on, real people in a variety of challenges designed to showcase the artists’ talents,” including a challenge “where artists are tasked with designing a tattoo commemorating a personal story or life changing moment and a ‘Tribute Tattoo Challenge’ where artists are tasked with designing tribute tattoos for fans of a well-known musical icon.”
