Deion Sanders’ and NOFX’s shows debut; Deadliest Catch and Work Out return

Tonight, two shows conclude their seasons: NBC’s The Biggest Loser 5 and Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City. But it’s also a busy night for new reality show debuts, as two familiar series return and two new ones kick off.

At 9 p.m. ET, Deadliest Catch returns for its fourth season on the Discovery Channel, and will now be broadcast in high definition. The network says that “injuries dominate the crab-fishing season” this year, and says that the crews of the Northwestern, Cornelia Marie, Time Bandit, and Wizard will all return. The show also adds two new ships: the North American and the Early Dawn.

At 10, Fuse debuts NOFX: Backstage Passport, a new eight-episode series that follows the punk rock band NOFX on its world tour. Here’s how the network explains it: “From riots in Peru to S&M clubs in Japan, follow NOFX as they get ripped-off, beat-up and completely wasted. What happens when you accidentally insult a muslim crowd? What happens when the police hold your crew hostage? What happens when you do green drugs in Singapore? Tune in and find out.”

At 10:30, Oxygen debuts a new series, Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love, which “follows the home life of NFL superstar Deion Sanders and his wife, Pilar and five kids in small town Texas,” according to the network. The New York Times Ginia Bellafante says “the series puts his parental ineptitude on full display” and shows him “traveling through his mansion on a motorized scooter, like an 82-year-old navigating O’Hare.” But The New York Daily News’ David Hinckley says “[i]t’s hard to find a single moment … that doesn’t feel calculated and sculpted to reflect the image Mr. and Mrs. Sanders would like to project for the TV camera.”

At 11, the docudrama Work Out returns to Bravo for a third season that again follows L.A. gym owner Jackie Warner and her group of trainers. She has a “new live-in love, Brianna,” according to Bravo, plus four new trainers: “Jesse Jordan, Agostina Laneri, Greg Plitt and Renessa Williams. The hot new trainers bring out the insecurities in Warner’s longtime trainers Jesse Brune, Gregg Butler, Rebecca Cardon, Erika Jacobson and Brian Peeler,” according to Bravo.

In addition, last night, VH1 debuted Ego Trip’s Miss Rap Supreme, a follow-up to The (White) Rapper Show; it’s a competition between female rappers. It repeats today at 11 a.m., 7 p.m., and 1 a.m.
