Dancing with the Stars renewed

As expected, ABC has renewed Dancing with the Stars. The series will return next year, during midseason. The celebrities have yet to be selected, although an exec with producer BBC told Variety that “we guarantee even more tears, tantrums and tangos.”

The format will remain the same; Variety reports, “No major changes are planned for season two, though [BBC VP Paul] Telegdy said he’s sure ABC will up the episode count from season one’s six segs.”

ABC’s Andrea Wong says that the show “was an odd left turn, so it’s especially gratifying to see it embraced by so many people.”
