A&E’s Growing Up Gotti debuts tonight.
Television’s next celebrity reality show debuts tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET on A&E, as the network debuts Growing Up Gotti. The series follows Victoria Gotti, the author, “hot shot celebrity gossip columnist, single mom of three teenage sons, and daughter of John Gotti.” This reality Sopranos kicks off with two back-to-back half-hour long episodes. A&E has also launched a site called that pitches the show to those more inclined to tune in for a piece of Carmine, John, or Frank–Victoria’s sons, who previews show are more obsessed with hair gel than with offing people.
href=””>The AP reports that Gotti is doing the show to repair her family’s reputation. She says, “I’m tired of everybody labeling us as the first
mob family. I have three young boys that have their own paths in life
chosen.” In its
, the Globe and Mail says, “Like The Osbournes, most of what happens on Growing Up Gotti involves daily mundane doings, although flashes of the notorious Gotti temper do surface occasionally.” Variety
that A&E “has the potential for a sleeper hit with its new reality TV show,” although its review says “they clearly muffed the title. ‘Mommy as Monster’ is closer to the target.”
