Whitney Houston is dead; had been approached to judge X Factor
Pop icon and Being Bobby Brown cast member Whitney Houston is dead, according to her publicist, less than a day after a report said she was offered a job judging Fox’s The X Factor. She was 48.
The AP reports that “Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.” Her drug use was as well-documented as her incredible voice and successes in music and film.
Late Friday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that she was “approached to join the Fox talent series, according to a source close to the show,” and “was spotted at a pre-Grammy party on Thursday, hosted by singer Kelly Price at TRU Hollywood. The 48-year-old diva also is expected to appear at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party on Saturday.”
While she wasn’t the primary subject of the Bravo reality series, Whitney was arguably its star; The Soup even named her “kiss my ass” as its clip of the year. But reports said Bobby wanted more money and that she wouldn’t return for a second season, and it was cancelled.
