Marijuana and America’s Weed Wars come to reality TV
This season of Survivor has a contestant, Jim Rice, who owns a medical marijuana dispensary in Denver, and his audition video featured him surrounded by marijuana plants. If you want to know what it’s like to work at such a place, tonight Discovery debuts a new series, Weed Wars, that follows the world’s largest retail marijuana store. And that follows a documentary that explores the United States’ weird relationship with marijuana.
Weed Wars is set at Oakland’s Harborside Health Center and features a theme song by Snoop Dogg (of course), and follows both its founder the people who grow the plants for the center’s 94,000 patients. It debuts at 10 p.m. ET tonight, and will be simulcast on Discovery Fit & Health. Watch its trailer:
Meanwhile, Current is airing The War on Weed, a documentary that’s part of its Vanguard series and will “investigate the bizarre range of marijuana laws and enforcement in America,” according to the network. It debuted Monday and re-airs Friday at 10 p.m., and Saturday at 1, 6, and 9 a.m., and 2, 5, and 8 p.m. Watch its trailer:
