VH1 cancels Ev and Ocho after Chad Johnson arrested for domestic battery
The reality series chronicling the build-up to the wedding between Chad Johnson, who recently changed his name from Chad Ochocinco, and Evelyn Lozada, has been cancelled after he was arrested for domestic violence over the weekend.
Ev and Ocho was supposed to debut Sept. 3, and when VH1 announced it, the network said “audiences will get a glimpse inside of Evelyn and Chad’s relationship” and “watch Evelyn and Chad work together through the tough times to reach the goal of their dream wedding,” which took place July 4.
Today, the network said in a statement, “Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.”
Johnson also appears on HBO’s Hard Knocks, which is following the Miami Dolphins this season; yesterday, the Dolphins cut him, saying in a brief statement, “The Miami Dolphins have terminated the contract of WR Chad Johnson, the team announced today.” Tomorrow’s episode of the HBO show will include his dismissal from the team.
CNN reported that an argument started after she “returned to the couple’s home in that southern Florida city from grocery shopping shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday and noticed a receipt with a charge for a box of condoms,” and police later “found Johnson’s wife with an approximately 3-inch cut on the center of her forehead.” The police report says that “As they were talking, Johnson became upset and without (his wife’s) permission, grabbed her and butted her on the forehead, causing a laceration.”
