ArchivesA slew of new shows debut this weekend, ranging from new competitions to series that give familiar, has-been reality stars the chance to again consume our time.
On Saturday at midnight, the Fox Reality Channel debuted Gimme My Reality Show, on which a group of has-been celebrities, who’ve mostly all already appeared on reality shows, appear on a new reality show to win their own four-episode reality series. Those stars are AJ Benza, Traci Bingham, Gretchen Bonaduce, Kato Kaelin, Susan Olsen, Ryan Starr, and Bobby Trendy; Santino Rice was initially mentioned as being part of the cast, but he is not on the show. It’s hosted by George Gray, and judged by Adrianne Curry, Variety’s Michael Schneider, and reality TV producer Scott Sternberg.
VH1 continues to milk its dating franchises with Rock of Love: Charm School, which debuts tonight at 9 p.m. ET. The second season of Charm School is hosted by Sharon Osbourne, who will work to reform 14 women from Rock of Love’s first two seasons; they’ll compete for $100,000. The first episode is online.
That’s followed at 10 by the second season of The Pickup Artist, on which the author know as Mystery—VH1 says he’s “a former nerd from the Great White North who has discovered the secret to wooing women”—will help nine men “find the courage to overcome their biggest fear,” which is “talking to women.”
Also at 10, Food Network debuts a very different sort of show. The Chef Jeff Project follows Jeff Henderson and six at-risk young adults as he “commits to turning their lives around by putting them to work in his catering company, Posh Urban Cuisine. He arms them with the knowledge, the skills and, ultimately, the opportunity for a new life with a culinary career.”
