Employees will compete for a promotion in CBS pilot from Undercover Boss producers

CBS has ordered a pilot episode for a new competition series from the producers of Undercover Boss that will feature two employees of a company competing for a promotion.

The series “has standalone episodes going behind the scenes at major U.S. companies cooperating with the production,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, which notes that “[u]nlike ‘Boss,’ the as-yet-untitled new show adds a competitive element (which often fuels most broadcast reality shows), and doesn’t require the undercover approach.”

It isn’t framed as a direct spin-off, but seems to me to be a logical follow-up and even a show that could take over for Undercover Boss if it gets too difficult to produce or audiences tire of its formulaic approach.
