UPN’s Under One Roof debuts tonight at 8 p.m. ET, immediately preceding a repeat of The Amazing Race 2. In the show, five “families live together and work together under one roof, [and] they also compete for the deed to the house” in Fiji. Hosted by Fox News Channel’s Rob Nelson, the show is executive produced by Bruce Toms, who also produced Love Cruise, and John de Mol, who’s responsible for Big Brother. Not surprisingly, the show seems like Big Brother on Survivor’s beach, and The Chicago Sun-Times’ Phil Rosenthal writes that it’s “the illegitimate child” of those shows, along with The Real World. The families are not “the smartest bunch and definitely not the nicest,” he writes. The L.A. Times’ Mark Sachs writes that the show “has been carefully designed to generate maximum mayhem among the contestants.”
