UK net pulls show after legal threats from men who pursued a transsexual.
In America, if you get screwed over by reality TV show producers, you suck it up and smile because you know it’ll make you even more likely to get a job doing whatever washed-up reality TV show contestants do (witness The Joe Schmo Show, Joe Millionaire, and Boy Meets Boy). If that happens in the UK, you sue, especially if you say you’ve “been tricked into kissing, cuddling and holding hands with” a pre-op transsexual. On There’s Something About Miriam, seven single men competed for Miriam, who “only discover the truth when Miriam pick[ed] the winner and then lift[ed] up her skirt,” The Guardian reports. One contestant punched a producer; six of the contestants threatened to sue late last week (claiming, among other things, “conspiracy to commit sexual assualt”) and Sky TV caved in; the show will not be included on the schedule.
