Archivesrelatives of WW1 veterans criticize BBC’s upcoming The Trenches.
Next year, BBC2 will air The Trench, a reality TV show that finds the 20 cast members living in a “ditch while wearing full battle dress for two weeks. They were filmed constantly to gauge their reactions to simulated explosions, the sound of machine gun fire and ‘gas attacks,’” The Times reports. Although the networks says the recreation of life on WW1’s front lines has “enormous support from war veterans,” some families of WW1 veterans are saying it’s “too soon to do this.”
