Big Brother named one of the “20 programmes that changed our world.”
Along with the Apollo moon landing, Live Aid, and reports on JFK’s assassination, Big Brother has been named one of the “20 programmes that changed our world” by a UK journalist writing in Radio Times. The show that locks strangers in a house together was number 19 on the list, but it did beat news reports on Sept. 11, 2001. Hugo Davenport says the show made the list because “This multimedia event—pointless, trivial, banal, but obsessive—stoked the appetite for talent-free celebrity,” the Independent reports.
