Life and Death in Darfur airs tonight on BET
Tonight, BET News airs an original half-hour special tonight that focuses on the crisis in Darfur at 10 p.m. ET. It’s hosted by Jeff Johnson.
During Life and Death Darfur, “viewers will hear stories firsthand from the Darfurian people, representatives and sympathizers of the Sudanese government, members of the humanitarian organizations who have been on the ground since the conflict began and Darfurian expats — all of whom have both clear and often contradictory points of view about the situation in the region,” according to the network. Actor and activist Don Cheadle and Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, both appear.
The conflict has killed hundreds of thousands and injured millions, and “thousands of people in the Darfur region of the Sudan are being beaten, raped, murdered and driven from their homes resulting in an astonishing death toll,” the network says in a press release.
