ArchivesFOX’s Trading Spouses debuts tonight.
FOX beats ABC to the wife-as-property punch tonight at 8 p.m. ET as it debuts Trading Spouses, a show that closely resembles ABC fall series (and UK import) Wife Swap. Subtitled “Meet Your New Mommy,” the new series’ crappy Flash web site says tonight’s episode finds “a strong willed Blonde who went from driving a truck in Kentucky to throwing elaborate parties in her mansion in Texas” trading places with “a hardworking Surgical Tech from a low-income section of rural Dallas.” Note the capitalization of both “Blonde” and “Surgical Tech”; apparently being blonde is now a career. Also note that FOX isn’t waiting long to go for the socio-economic or race-baiting. Swaps will span two episodes, and will feature a game element: each family gets $50,000, but only their new family member can spend it.
