Ty Pennington, late of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and also known for his work on Trading Spaces, is a fraud, at least according to his former LA landlord. S. Scott Mayers tells the New York Observer that Ty is taking credit for changes he, the landlord, made to the place Ty used to rent; both In Touch magazine and Ty’s new book Ty’s Tricks picture Ty in the place, attributing the work to him. Mayers says, “He’s damaged my reputation.” Ty says he didn’t build the house, but “I came in and did my thing.” His landlord disagrees: “That’s a total lie. He did nothing.” Why is Mayers angry? “Scott’s pissed because I fucking moved out,” Ty says. He also says he got permission to feature the place in photo shoots: “I was like, ‘Dude, I’m gonna fix up your place and put it in magazines. This is what I do. I’m gonna make your fucking little shack here look fucking awesome!’”
