A spin-off of TLC’s Trading Spaces will begin airing May 17—as part of NBC’s Discovery Kids Saturday morning block. The show, titled Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls will feature kids ages 8 to 13 who redesign each other’s rooms with the help of a designer. A new host and crew of designers will make up the show’s cast; 13 episodes have been ordered. In other news, the show’s first DVD and book are out today. The Trading Spaces DVD “truly disappoints” since it opts for “two hours of short clips from the show” rather than full-length episodes, according to the Beacon Journal. The DVD includes “‘best moments’ from seasons 2 and 3,” interviews, bloopers, and a collection of reveals. A new book about the series gets a better review from the Beacon Journal: Trading Spaces: Behind the Scenes with TV’s Most Daring Designers provides “an inside look,” including an episode guide, “trivia, inside scoops and even poster-size portraits” of the cast.
