Responding to a comment about the popularity of fellow Trading Spaces designer Vern Yip, Genevieve Gorder says that “Vern is very safe. There’s no fear, and he’s very predictable. You know what you’re going to get.” She tells Zap2it.com that the show’s other designers are “a little more out there. We’ll give you something you’ve never seen before, that we’ve never done before. It’s a careful balance.” Of her occasionally insane designs, Hildi says that people watch the show “for ideas; they’re not watching it for a really pretty room every single time. … I can do a pretty room. I’m not there to do ugly rooms, by any means, but I am there to share ideas and share creativity and inspire people to be creative.”
