Saleisha says Top Model was “fair and square”; agency says she “needs to become more seasoned”

America’s Next Top Model 9 winner Saleisha Stowers says that her presence on the show and eventual victory was fair, despite her previous modeling experience with Tyra Banks.

Saleisha tells Newsday that her casting was “fair and square,” but doesn’t elaborate beyond that. In the interview, she also says, “It takes a strong black woman to get out there and work the fashion industry. And I am a strong black woman.”

Saleisha won’t appear at Fashion Week because she “already has commitments including CoverGirl and doing publicity for America’s Next Top Model. We will definitely send her to the next one,” her Elite agent Jose Covarrubias said. The paper paraphrases him and says Saleisha “needs to become more seasoned” first, and reports that “her agency is not sending her to any castings.”
