America’s Next Top Model cycle four will move across the country, from New York to LA. Tyra Banks tells TV Guide, “Our show needs to be on the pulse of fashion. Los Angeles is now a major fashion port in the industry. They’re going into their third season of having a true Fashion Week like New York, Milan, Tokyo and London.” But their downtown loft won’t be all shopping and botox. Executive producer Ken Mok says, “We show them a different view of L.A. than palm trees, beaches and Beverly Hills. It’s a more gritty side.” Both also talk about why there are no plus-sized or Asian-American models in this cast. The short answer: There weren’t any qualified candidates. Mok says, “”We’ll do our best to get [Asian candidates] in the next cycle. We like to make sure our cast has a healthy and honest reflection of what the U.S. populace is.”
