Blog Televisionary, via Defamer, cites a “well-placed insider” and says that “Joel will ‘not be returning’ to the show. No reason for her departure was cited.” The show’s producers are reportedly searching for a new host. No other information is given, and if Katie Lee Joel wasn’t such a spectacularly awful host, this might just seem like an unfounded rumor.
This may be sad news for Katie Lee, but it’s great news for Top Chef fans, many of whom wanted to take their knives and cut their throats every time she had to hack up a few scripted lines. I have an idea: Make Dave and Tiffani co-hosts; just watching them fight with each other will be television that far exceeds anything Katie Lee could deliver.
