FOX erected boa-wrapped, tiara-topped fake Paris and Nicole street signs in Altus.
Honoring their two most famous streetwalkers, the town of Altus, Ark., has renamed two roads in the town Paris Hilton Boulevard and Nicole Richie Avenue. At least, that’s the story some media outlets have been running with. Instead, as the AP reports, it was a “mock street sign” put up by FOX on the very auspicious occasion of the release of The Simple Life DVD set. The city’s clerk and mayor’s assistant says, “They’re nothing like real street signs. They were probably out there for five hours. We did not rename the streets.” The AP’s description certainly makes it sound like a real street sign, though: “The 8-foot-tall sign features faux fur, pink beads, and pink feather boas wrapped around the sign post, which is crowned with a tiara.” It “sits on a base adorned with decorative hat boxes, more beads and more feathers.”
+ also: Paris is writing and shopping her autobiography, titled “Tongue-In-Chic: Confessions of an Heiress.”
