On Sunday, NBC debuts Mark Burnett’s The Restaurant at 10 p.m. ET, chronicling for six hours the opening and day-to-day operations of Rocco DiSpirito’s Rocco’s on 22nd restaurant in New York City. Mark Burnett describes the show as “a nighttime soap opera about the people trying to open a restaurant in record time.” The Chicago-Sun Times’ review says the show doesn’t pick up “until the second hour,” while the New York Daily News says “the show feels closer to reality than most shows given that genre title.”
