Rocco’s cited by NYC Department of Health for “live flies,” other problems.
As if gatherings of media whores weren’t enough of a problem, Rocco DiSpirito’s restaurant Rocco’s—the setting of The Restaurant—has been cited for six code violations by the New York City Department of Health. Among the problems outlined in the report, which was obtained by The Smoking Gun, are “evidence of live flies…in a food preparation area,” utensils stored “in a metal container of greasy stagnant water,” and a non-working employee bathroom door. Additionally, The Smoking Gun reveals that “DiSpirito owns 50 percent of Rocco’s, which was launched with a $1.5 million investment and pays $36,499 monthly for its swanky Flatiron space. The restaurant’s annual payroll approaches $2 million.”
