ArchivesFor the 19th season of The Real World, MTV heads to Sydney, Australia, with a cast of seven Americans. The new season debuts at 10 p.m. ET.
While the cast will have their requisite job, MTV has stopped pretending that the show is anything but a drunken whorefest joke, excitedly exclaiming on the show’s web site, “As soon as these seven strangers move into their amazing apartment overlooking Darling Harbour, the catfights, drunken nights and hot tub hookups ensue! … Thought you’d seen it all? Wrong! The Real World: Sydney is sure to be the cattiest, most controversial, drama-filled season yet! Here’s to Australia, mates!”
Even the show’s trailer seems to intentionally emphasize the cast’s obnoxiousness, as they act entitled (“Who do you want to be right now? This guy!” says Isaac), drunk, and stupid:
