The Real World Philadelphia saga now has a new front: Austin. The director of the Austin Film Office tells the Philadelphia Business Journal that a Bunim-Murray producer contacted him Wednesday and “said they were looking for a house, looking for a place to base a reality show. He was very interested and wanted to know what our union situation was here.” But back on the east coast, Philly isn’t giving up so easily. Union members and non-union construction workers are all pissed off, and 20- and 30-somethings who missed the memo that the show jumped the shark years ago are protesting. Gov. Edward G. Rendell talked to Bunim-Murray’s CEO Friday, apologizing. But the city’s best hope comes from a Bunim-Murray spokesperson, who told the New York Times, “Last I heard, we had pulled out. But I think that could change.”
