Real World is “the most vile of the plagues that MTV has unleashed.”
In the Las Vegas Weekly, Al Mancini body-slams “the most vile of the plagues that MTV has unleashed on the Earth”—i.e., The Real World. He calls the show “the Sistine Chapel for America’s cult of celebrity-for-its-own-sake,” and writes of the cast, “Rescued from the need to find shelter and employment, the self-absorbed simpletons are permitted to indulge their delusions of celebrity by treating every minor incident in their otherwise average lives as a major drama. ” He also mentions his run-in with some of The Real World Las Vegas cast members. When he asked what they were shooting, the reply came back, “it’s confidential.”
