The Real World Key West

Judge permits Real World Key West production to continue

A judge has ruled in favor of MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions, and production on The Real World Key West will continue, reality blurred has learned.

The show’s Key Haven neighbors, Ed and Nancy Swift, challenged the production in court, arguing that it was disruptive and a commercial enterprise in a residential area. They argued that traffic had increased as the show’s house became a tourist attraction; the show said in court that it would leave Key West if the judge ruled against them.

A statement by the CEO of Bunim-Murray Productions, Joey Carson, confirms the judge ruled in favor of the production. The statement says:

For 17 seasons, THE REAL WORLD and Bunim-Murray Productions have set the standard for compelling reality TV programming. We pride ourselves on being a good neighbor and a positive contributor to every community that we enter. We are very pleased that Judge Jones has affirmed our right to produce THE REAL WORLD in Key West, Florida, and we look forward to showcasing this spectacular region to REAL WORLD viewers across the globe when our new season premieres in 2006 on MTV.
