Real World DC cast involved in Abusers reality series, which won’t show physical violence

The Real World DC cast member Joshuah Colon and his girlfriend Ashley Marconi are members of the “creative team” of a show that’s being pitched to networks called Abusers, which is similar to A&E’s Intervention in that it is “a one-hour intervention show designed to arrest the cycle of violence in the lives of women, children and families,” according to a press release.

The MTV stars are involved because they both “witnessed domestic violence in both of their families,” the press release says. Ashely said, “It’s time to show America and the people who stay ‘inside the box’ what REALLY goes on in an abusive relationship. Everyone needs to open their eyes! It could be happening to your own sister, or mother and you would have no idea.”

Producer Albert Harris Jr., a former aide to New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey, told Crushable that the show won’t feature actual physical violence, and said domestic violence can be turned into a TV series because of “the rubber-neck effect … you don’t actually want to look at someone’s head dangling out the car window, but it’s the reason why we look. We look to see the worst thing that could happen.”
