The Real World Chicago’s director—a Chicago South Side native and the series’ first-ever black director—talks to Chicago Magazine about shooting the show amid the controversy in Wicker Park. He says the “area was hostile before we got there,” and defends the decision not to air the protests because they “[don’t] reflect well on MTV, nor on the city.”
