Real World Brooklyn debuts in high definition with eight cast members
Tonight, MTV debuts the 21st season of The Real World, which is the third season to be set in New York City. Episodes air Wednesdays at 10, and are again one hour long; MTV started that last season, and the longer episodes keep the same running time but cut the season’s length in half.
The Real World Brooklyn has three firsts: it’s the first season to start with eight cast members, instead of the typical “seven strangers”; the first to have a transexual cast member, Katelynn, who was born male but became female last summer; and the first to be shot and broadcast in HD (a first for MTV, too), and high-definition episodes will be on iTunes.
The new cast—Chet Cannon, Ryan Conklin, Katelynn Cusanelli, Scott Herman, JD Ordonez, Sarah Rice, Devyn Simone, and Baya Voce—will live in Red Hook. MTV’s trailer suggests that this season’s conflict and drama, including smashed tables! and hook-ups!, will have a lot to do with their secret identities. And probably alcohol.
