ArchivesFor its next New York location, The Real World is reportedly using a penthouse in a new downtown Brooklyn building that a producer confirmed is being considered.
The show’s “housemates may be inhabiting the luxurious BellTel Lofts in not-quite-hip Downtown, sources familiar with the discussions said,” according to The Brooklyn Paper. “Construction is going on throughout the unfinished Willoughby Street building (right) — and a source told The Brooklyn Paper that MTV has scouted the penthouse units as a home base for its cast.”
One of the show’s executive producers, Jim Johnston, told the paper that the building is under consideration. He said that although they’re filming in Brooklyn, “We [do] want to be close to Manhattan.” He said that other areas under consideration include Williamsburg, Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Greenpoint, and Coney Island.
