Real World Austin will become a chain Mexican restaurant, store
The home of The Real World Austin’s debauchery, or at least the hangovers following the debauchery, will become a chain restaurant and a store.
“The building’s owner, Will Houston, has already re-leased both wings of the tourist stop,” according to The Daily Texan. The cast’s quarters, on the west side, will soon be a location for a Rio Grande Mexican restaurant. The other half “will be leased to a local company, Thomas Reprographics, to house another of their stores,” the paper reports.
This is a departure from other past houses, some of which have become tourist destinations that get rented out in their Real World form. A Downtown Austin Alliance rep told the paper, “I don’t think the owner or broker realized the popularity to a certain demographic. It’s a hot property.” But Will Houston, the owner of the property, said, “We’re not in the hotel business here.”
