Real World still going strong: San Diego has its highest-rated premiered in five seasons
After 26 seasons, The Real World is still drawing audiences. The debut of the new, San Diego-set season on Wednesday “was the best debut in five seasons and the #1 original cable series of the night,” according to MTV.
It had 17 percent more viewers ages 12 to 34 than The Real World Las Vegas’ debut earlier this year, and 1.9 million viewers overall, MTV said. It’s worth noting that at least one episode last season had higher ratings, thanks to Dustin Zito’s gay porn revelations; the April 28 episode was watched by 2.5 million viewers.
If you abandoned the series long ago and wonder what you’re missing, here’s MTV’s preview for next week:
“…Sam and Nate pull an alarming prank on the other roommates, while sparks fly between Zach and Ashley. Meanwhile, a night of drinking causes Frank to become belligerent and he has to deal with the aftermath the next day.”
