Real World San Diego cast member IDed by his mom’s defense of her Pumpkin
The Real World’s 26th season started filming in San Diego earlier this month, and will have seven cast members, like last season.* One of those people, football player Nate Stodghill, has already been identified, thanks to his mom’s Facebook updates.
On Thursday, MTV confirmed that the series would return to the city and said the 26th season “will introduce us to seven strangers. Perhaps addressing skepticism that San Diego has the “fantasy appeal” they want, executive producer Jon Murray said in a press release that San Diego is “a city that has always been a magnet for young people with its beautiful beaches, sunny skies, laidback lifestyle and welcoming spirit.”
The first cast member who will live in the spectacular ocean-front house has been identified on Vevmo as Missouri University of Science & Technology football player Nate Stodghill; he was a junior last year and is a linebacker.
His mother confirmed he’s on the cast by defending her son on Facebook, pseudo-threatening a Vevmo poster who suggested Nate wasn’t in shape. She also wrote such things such as, “MTV you’d better take care of my baby boy!!!!!!” and refers to her son as “Pumpkin” in her posts. Discussion on Vevmo about Nate led her to defend his nickname and insist that he’s straight.
* Correction: The first version of this post incorrectly said that the show has had eight cast members since The Real World Brooklyn, but the most-recent season, The Real World Las Vegas 2, also had seven.
