Real World’s Puck badly injured in car accident; was arrested for suspicion of DUI

Update: Puck admits, tries to justify drinking two shots before crash

Notorious Real World San Francisco star Puck, aka David Rainey, has been hospitalized following a car accident in which he flipped his car and landed upside-down in a creek.

The accident “left the reality star and his 8-year-old son seriously injured,” and Puck “[has] broken bones in both feet, his right hand, his neck,” and also “fractured his sternum and clavicle,” TMZ reports. On Friday, Puck and his son were going fishing “when he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of his car” and “[t]he car rolled down an embankment and landed upside down in a creek,” but “he managed to free his son, who flagged down some help.”

Update, 5:25 p.m. ET: Puck “will charged with driving while intoxicated, according to the California Highway Patrol,” according to NBC’s San Diego affiliate. CHP officer Brian Pennings said, “Due to his level of intoxication, he was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway … [Rainey] was arrested for suspicion of DUI, however, he remains hospitalized due to his medical condition.”

Reality TV cast member agent Michael Martin told E! News that “The initial fear was that [Puck’s 8-year-old son] Bogart was in worse shape and may not live, but he has fully recovered and back home as of today,” but “Puck is in much worse shape and still in the hospital and can’t even speak.”
