The Osbournes

MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest debuts tonight.

MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest debuts tonight.
The heads of The Osbournes’ household take their show on the road, sort of, as MTV debuts Battle for Ozzfest tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET. On the competitive series, eight bands will vie for a spot on Ozzfest 2005. After facing elimination through challenges and competitions, viewers will ultimately vote for the band they want to win. MTV says promises that “[e]very episode delivers more road tests and eliminations by Ozzy and Sharon. The contestants are constantly faced with various tasks intended to test their strength, be it physical, mental, moral or musical.” Reuters report on the series spoils the challenge that comes in the first episode and will be hard to top: “contestants must bite the head off a bat, just as Osbourne once did.” According to Reuters, Ozzy “thought the concept was ‘(expletive) stupid’” when it was first pitched to him, but then warmed to the idea because it will “let people know that we’re not The Osbournes and I’m still active in my work as I have been for the last 37 years. Sharon’s still very active in the managerial side. We’re not just sitting in the house.”
+ also: there’s still been no decision about the future of The Osbournes, which will air 10 more third-season episodes soon.
